Teaching Assistant Program

The Education and Cultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Canberra coordinates two teaching assistant initiatives to support Indonesian language education and strengthen cultural relations between Indonesia and Australia.

The Indonesian Teaching Assistant (ITA) program places university students from Indonesian universities in Australian schools to assist Indonesian language learning, provide authentic language practice, and support various cultural activities. The program aims to enhance the quality of Indonesian language education while strengthening cross-cultural understanding and people-to-people connections between the two countries.

The Indonesian Language Teaching Assistant (ILTA) program involves Indonesian university students currently studying in Australia who support Indonesian language programs in Australian schools through collaboration with local education authorities. ILTA contributes to language learning, the development of curricular activities, the promotion of the Indonesian language and culture, and the strengthening of collaboration between schools and the Indonesian Embassy.

Together, the ITA and ILTA programs enrich students’ learning experiences, support the sustainability and development of Indonesian language programs in Australia, and strengthen educational, cultural, and people-to-people links between Indonesia and Australia.
