Indonesia Goes to Schools (IGTS) is an education and cultural diplomacy initiative coordinated by the Education and Culture Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Canberra. The program brings Indonesia directly into Australian schools, providing students and teachers with engaging opportunities to learn about contemporary Indonesian language, culture, and society.
The objectives of IGTS are to:
- Increase students’ interest and motivation in learning the Indonesian language;
- Strengthen intercultural understanding and foster people-to-people connections between Indonesia and Australia;
- Support schools that offer Indonesian language programs.
Activities may include:
- Interactive presentations about Indonesia;
- Indonesian language sessions and educational games;
- Cultural workshops, such as batik, angklung, traditional dance, culinary experiences, and other cultural activities.
Through IGTS, we aim to create enjoyable, meaningful, and authentic learning experiences for students while contributing to the sustainability and growth of Indonesian language education in Australia.
